Fairview Southeast (SE) Calgary Masjid

The Muslim population of Calgary has been exponentially increasing across almost all neighbourhoods. Over the years, the Southeast Calgary communities have been underserved. To meet our objective to serve our community, by the Grace of Allah and through the phenomenal support of our community, the IISC has set out to establish the first masjid in the Fairview area of Southeast (SE) Calgary. We need your help through your generous contributions and sharing this campaign to help make this masjid a reality.

IISC - Community Services
The Islamic Information Society of Calgary (IISC) is a registered CRA Charitable and non-profit religious organization with three locations in the Calgary area: North East (NE) Musallah, Al-Kahf Youth Center, and Calgary Downtown Masjid.

The NE location offers Qur’an memorization and tajweed classes for all age groups and weekly halaqas (classes) covering personal development and religious education. The IISC's Imams perform Nikah and communal services (including congregational prayers), conflict resolution, family counselling, and mentorship to assist in maintaining happy family relations. The Al-Kahf Youth Center offers leadership development and community service within programs for youth development. The Downtown Masjid is a community hub that offers a wide variety of regular workshops, iftar dinners during Ramadan, and outreach to the non-Muslim community.

The IISC conducts da'wah activities to increase awareness and dispel misconceptions about Islam and Muslims. Helping Hands is a program that focuses on community engagement and serving the local community. The IISC has been delivering monthly food hampers, school supplies, and financial support for families in difficult situations for the past seven years.

Welcoming space, standalone building, opportunities for future growth allowing accommodating congregational prayers, family gatherings, etc. programs Community outreach, educational classes, workshops, mentoring, Quran classes, family counselling, youth development, marriage contracts and much more!

Highlights

This is an extremely rare opportunity to own a well-maintained church building in a fantastic location in the inner city. The building is over 5,400 square feet and sits on over half an acre of valuable land with great exposure and access, located along a major transit route and near ample public space, schools, and the local community center. It has been owned by Fairview Baptist Church and is a perfect fit for our congregation, with large prayer halls, a library, a meeting room, and a full kitchen. The recent addition of a wheelchair ramp, accessible washroom, and elevator makes the building accessible for all age groups and mobility needs. Its efficient design and full concrete floors on both levels offer our community long-term stability and growth potential.

Questions & Answers

Why do we need a masjid in the Calgary Southeast?
For the past decade, the Muslim population in Calgary has been exponentially increasing. With this new building, not only will we fulfil the need for a masjid in the area, but we will also serve the Muslim community of the entire city for many generations to come, in-shaa-Allah. This is the first masjid for the Southeast community in Calgary.

I donated to the previous masjid & waq'f projects. What happened to those funds?
100% of your donations from the previous masjid projects are reallocated towards the Fairview Southeast Masjid purchase. Also, we assure you that all current donations are solely used to secure Southeast Masjid ownership. When we reach surplus donations, IISC will only employ those donations for renovations and future enhancements of the masjid.

How can I financially support the masjid purchase?
To see the fruition of this noble project, we require support from everyone in our communities. To complete the purchase, we accept donations regardless of the amount, small or large, one-time or regular instalments.
