June 20, 2023 Celebrating Eid Al Adha on Wednesday - June 28, 2023 Eid Al Adha Prayer at 9:00AM on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at the Calgary Soccer Centre SE Dear Brothers and Sisters, As salam 'alaikum wa rahamatullahi wa barakaatuhu, Alhamdulillah, Allah has privileged us to witness another Arafah and Eid. May Allah accept from us all. Ameen! It is encouraged to glorify the rite of Eid and the three days following. If one can slaughter, they should do so on these days and share the meat with family, friends, and the poor. Lastly, let it be a fun-filled day for the children and family. Eid Al Adha Prayer will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at the Calgary Soccer Centre SE. We will only have ONE Eid prayer at 9:00 AM. Please note that there will be NO Eid prayer at the Dar Al Hijra - IISC North East, Fairview Southeast Mosque or the Calgary Downtown Masjid location. Please prepare adequately for the prayer by leaving your home early enough to anticipate traffic or congestion. Please bring your own prayer mats, and have wudu before arrival. We would like to take this opportunity to advise you about the day of Eid Al Adha and some of the recommended acts for this day: Taking a bath (Ghusl). Wearing one’s best clothes, and for the men perfuming themselves. Joining Eid Prayer with the congregation. Even if the woman is not praying, she is encouraged to come and attend. The Eid prayer consists of 2 units. The first unit has 7 takbeeraat including the initial takbeer (Takbeeratul Ihram). The Second unit has 5 takbeeraat. There is flexibility in the number of takbeer. Eid prayer is followed by a khutbah. You are encouraged to listen, but it is not obligatory and concludes with a duaa. Greet and congratulate one another with greetings. "Eid Mubarak" (May your Eid be blessed) and "Taqballa Allahu minna wa minkum" (May Allah accept from you and us) are acceptable. It is preferable to take a different path home than the one you took to come to the Musallah. On behalf of the IISC, its administration, volunteers and our Imams, we wish you all a blessed and happy Eid. May Allah (SWT) accept all of our good deeds and forgive all of our sins. Ameen! Monday - June 12, 2023 Fairview Southeast Mosque - Renovation Status As-salamu alaikum dear community members, We are pleased to share the latest update on the ongoing renovation of the Fairview Masjid. Over the past week, we have made significant progress. The following tasks were completed: Exterior Paint: The outside of the building received a new coat of paint, revitalizing its appearance and reinforcing its exterior to protect the building. Lower Floor Paint: The lower floor has been space - an essential step in our renovation journey. Light fixture upgrades: The pre-work for the energy-saving lighting is almost completed, in addition to the audio-visual components. In the coming week, we will install low-voltage LED lighting and other electrical components needed for the proper functioning of the main prayer hall. Main Floor Prep: The team diligently prepared for new flooring, ceiling, and wall repairs. We are pleased to announce that the ceiling has been restored, including patching, sanding, and finishing with a new coat of white paint. Removal of the old signage: The old signage on the building has been removed, and the parking lot signage will be updated in short order. We thank the community for their patience and continued support as this project progresses. The final result will be worthwhile, offering an enhanced space for everyone to enjoy. Sunday - June 4, 2023 Community Update - Fairview Southeast Mosque: Renovations Status As-salamu alaikum community members, Since we completed the Fairview Southeast Mosque purchase about a week ago, we want to share additional updates regarding the renovations underway. As we mentioned in our earlier community update, our goal has been to create a welcoming and comfortable space for prayer and community gatherings. Prayer Room Lighting & A/V: We are upgrading the mosque's main prayer hall fixtures with the latest high-efficiency lighting, audio PA, and video systems. These new light fixtures will improve overall lighting, including dimmer switches, allowing customizable lighting settings for taraweeh and qiam during Ramadan and for regular halaqas. The A/V upgrades will serve both floors for all prayers, especially jumaa. Flooring: All old carpets, stage, partition walls, etc., have been cleared to create open and fresh space for worship. Basement areas: We also took the initiative of repainting the space for a brighter look. The fresh wall paint will help create a more inspiring atmosphere for various community activities. We are also changing the carpet. Please note that we are not upgrading any washroom space in this initial phase of renovations and expect everyone to come prepared with wudu before attending prayers. Exterior facelift: To revitalize and protect the exterior of the building, we are applying modern gray paint. This facelift will give the mosque a new and fresh look. In the upcoming weeks, we will finish painting the walls and ceiling in the main prayer room once the lights are installed. After that, the new carpet will be installed. The stairs of the main entrance will be covered. These measures will further improve the appeal for the congregation. We are committed to providing ongoing updates on the renovation process for this important community project. We are grateful for your patience and continued support throughout this renovation project. Together, we are building a mosque that symbolizes unity in our communities.
