Friday - May 26, 2023 Community Update: Fairview Southeast Masjid Opening Soon As-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullah wabarakatuh community members, Congratulations, we have great news to share with everyone! We are happy to report that we have completed the legal aspects of the Fairview Southeast Masjid purchase, Alhamdulillah. We could not have done it without Allah's mercy and then your support and engagement. Thank you so much for your generous donations and unwavering support. We are very grateful. With keys in hand, we are working diligently on the necessary renovation to replace the carpet, do a fresh coat of paint, and get the Masjid ready for the five daily prayers, including the Friday prayer, insha’Allah. We will communicate the opening date soon. We are excited to begin this new journey together and anticipate spiritual growth and stronger community bonds as we establish our new mosque in the weeks ahead. Start Date: Immediate Type of Employment: Contract – Full-time Introduction: IISC is a Calgary based non for profit organization that has been serving the Muslim community in Calgary since 2001. We are currently seeking an administrative assistant for the Quran program. The Quran program has 400+ students who come periodically to learn Quran at all IISC locations. The successful candidate will report directly to the Program Manager, and support teachers, students and their families. The students in our program range from 5 years to 50+ years. Role and Responsibilities · Responding to phone and email inquiries · Assisting families/students with registration forms · Receiving and recording payments · Word processing, spreadsheets and data entry · Maintain detailed records for all classes · Communicate with families regularly, keeping them informed of program events and updates · Prepare periodic status reports to Program Manager · Supporting Program Manager as needed Qualifications and Skills · Must adhere to Islamic beliefs and principles · Must be able to communicate well in Arabic and English both verbally and in writing · Previous experience in administration, customer service and bookkeeping · Strong computer skills (email, MS Office suite) · familiarity or previous experience with a school management system is an asset · Treat everyone with fairness and kindness according to Islamic principles including QA families and students · Prior book keeping is an asset · Previous Arabic/Quran teaching is an asset · Memorize Juzz Amma is an asset Working Days: Monday thru Thursday: 4:00 pm – 7:30 pm (on site) Saturday and Sunday: 9:30 am – 4:00 pm (on site) 10 hours – flexible work from home Days off: Stat holidays, the last Sunday of every month, and Muslim holidays Paid vacation: 2 weeks per year

Eid Prayer will start at 9:00 AM at the Calgary Soccer Center located at 7000 48 Street SE Dear Brothers and Sisters, As salam alaikum wa rahamatullahi wa barakaatuhu, We pray that this email reaches you and your loved ones in the best of health and iman. May Allah SWT accept our fasting, prayers, supplications, charity, and all other righteous deeds. Ameen! We want to take this opportunity to enlighten you about the day of Eid and some of the recommended acts related to this day: Say the takbeeraat from the evening before till the actual prayer is prayed الله أكبر ، الله أكبر الله أكبر لا إله إلا الله والله أكبر الله أكبر ولله الحمد Please pay your Zakat Al-Fitr before performing the Eid prayer. Zakat al-Fitr is compulsory upon all those that have food stored in their houses. Take a shower (Ghusl). Wear your nicest clothes, and apply fragrance. Have an odd number of dates after Fajr. If one does not have dates any food will do. Perform the Eid prayer at home, individually or with family members living with you. The Eid prayer consists of 2 units. The first unit has 7 takbeeraat in it including the initial takbeer (Takbeeratul Ihram). The Second unit has 5 takbeeraat in it after the takbeer of standing. It is followed by a khutbah which can be given at home but is not mandatory. Exchange greetings with your loved ones virtually online or on the phone and congratulate one another with greetings like, "Eid Mubarak" (May your Eid be blessed) and "Taqballa Allahu minna wa minkum" (May Allah accept from us and from you). We would also like to remind all of the parents to make Eid a joyous occasion for the children so that they learn to love this day. April 17, 2023 As-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullah wabarakatuh dearest community members, We hope that this message finds you well. We are truly grateful for your generous support. With the blessing of Allah SWT and then your generosity, we have collected donations to cover the full payment for the new Masjid, including the outstanding pledges of $295,870, Alhamdulillah. We expect the remaining commitments to come due by the opening date of Thursday - May 25th, 2023, making up the full payment of $2.625 million, In-sha'Allah. Converting the existing church into the Fairview Southeast Masjid will complete Phase-I of the initial plan. To enable the community to benefit immediately, the Fairview Southeast Masjid will open with basic clean-up and minimum renovations; however, without the building's new design, floor plan, structure upgrades, washrooms, etc. We will continue to accept donations toward this noble project to allow the funds to be used as your sadaqa jariya for renovating, remodelling, maintenance, and where needed. Thank you again for supporting this virtuous cause. May Allah (SWT) abundantly reward you for your contributions and duaa, making it heavy on your scale of good deeds.
