Taking Care of Your Mental Health

On February 23rd, 2020, the IISC hosted "Taking Care of Your Mental Health" presented by Sh. Navaid Aziz, the resident Imam, and Walaa Taha and Mahnoor Khan,MSc Counselling Psychology students at the University of Calgary. The event was the second part in the series of Mental health, and was very well received. The workshop focused on:

  • The Islamic view of mental health which integrates body, mind, heart, and spirit

  • The signs and symptoms of common concerns such as anxiety, mania, and depression

  • How to cope with everyday stressors and difficult life circumstances

  • Ways to prevent the escalation of mental health concerns

  • The various modes of treatment, including therapy and non-traditional ways of healing

  • What you can control when it comes to your mental health

  • Where and how to access resources and support
