Observing and Celebrating Eid Al Adha on Saturday - July 9, 2022
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As salam 'alaikum wa rahamatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
Alhamdulillah, Allah has privileged us to witness another Arafah and Eid. May Allah accept from us all. Ameen!
It is encouraged to praise and glorify on this day Eid and the three days following. If one is able to slaughter, they should do so on these days and share the meat with family, friends, and the poor. Lastly, let it be a day filled with fun for the children and family.
Eid Al Adha Prayer will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the Calgary Soccer Centre SE. We will only have one Eid prayer at 8:45 AM. Please note that there will be no Eid prayer at the IISC North East location or in Calgary Downtown Masjid location.
Please prepare adequately for the prayer by leaving your home early enough to anticipate any traffic or congestion. Please bring your own prayer mats, have wudhu prior to arrival, and please bring a mask with you to be worn while indoors.
We would like to take this opportunity to enlighten you about the day of Eid Al Adha and some of the recommended acts for this day:
Taking a bath (Ghusl).
Wearing one’s best clothes, and for the men perfuming themselves.
Joining Eid Prayer with congregation. Even if the woman is not praying she is encouraged to come and attend.
The Eid prayer consists of 2 units. The first unit has 7 takbeeraat in it including the initial takbeer (Takbeeratul Ihram). The Second unit has 5 takbeeraat in it. There is flexibility in the number of takbeer.
Eid prayer is followed by a khutbah, which is encouraged to listen to but not obligatory, and concluded with a dua.
Greet and congratulate one another with greetings. "Eid Mubarak" (May your Eid be blessed) and "Taqballa Allahu minna wa minkum" (May Allah accept from us and from you) are acceptable.
It is preferable to take a different path home than the one that you took to come to the Musallah.

Parking is limited and please do car-pooling with your family, friends and neighbors.
We will be organizing only one prayer and plan your commute time to avoid delays.
Please respect parking regulations. Organizers and volunteers are not responsible for your vehicle, and any parking enforcement.
No food and drinks are allowed inside the venue. You shall not bring and share any candies, sweets, lollypops or any other treats.
Please bring your own prayer mats, and please bring facemasks with you to be worn while indoors.
There are separate spaces allocated for brothers and sisters.
There are very limited numbers of washrooms, please try your best to make wudu before arriving.
