About

Thank you for completing the IISC Volunteer Application Form, and congratulations on becoming part of the official IISC Volunteer List! We sincerely appreciate your willingness to dedicate your time and skills in serving our community. Your commitment is what allows IISC to continue delivering successful programs and events throughout the year.

We are currently recruiting approximately 60 volunteers to help make our IISC Summer Festival a success. The festival will take place on Saturday, August 1, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and volunteers will be selected based on the needs of each activity/department and first-come-first-serve basis.

To ensure we have adequate coverage across all areas, each volunteer may register for only ONE activity/department. Please choose the role that best matches your interests and availability.

All volunteers will receive

  • An official IISC Summer Festival volunteer t-shirt

  • A complimentary meal ticket

  • Water and snacks throughout their shift

Volunteer Commitment

  • Attend the mandatory in-person volunteer orientation meeting on Tuesday, July 21 at 6:30 PM at the IISC Al-Kahf Youth Centre, where you will receive your event t-shirt, schedule, and important event information.

  • Attend the highly recommended site visit at the Calgary Rotary Challenger Park on Saturday, July 25 at 10:00 AM - 11:00 PM.

  • Each volunteer will serve one 4-hour shift.

  • Shift 1: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

    • Volunteers should arrive by 12:00 PM to assist with event setup.

  • Shift 2: 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM

    • There will be an overlap beginning at 4:30 PM to allow for a smooth handover between shifts.

General Expectations

As an IISC Summer Festival volunteer, you are expected to:

  • Notify your Committee as early as possible if you become unable to attend your assigned shift.

  • Arrive on time for volunteer check-in.

  • Participate in a 15-minute zone briefing, including your role responsibilities and event safety procedures.

  • If you are serving the first shift, ensure any equipment, materials, or important information are properly handed over to the incoming volunteer or Committee member.

  • Stay hydrated, wear comfortable shoes, and represent IISC with professionalism, kindness, and a welcoming attitude throughout the event.

We look forward to serving alongside you and making this year's Summer Festival a memorable experience for our entire community.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan for your continued dedication and willingness to serve.
